THE NUCALA PATIENT

Patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA) may need a targeted maintenance therapy added to their standard of care (ie, in addition to their inhalers containing high-dose ICS and maintenance OCS).

Signs that your SEA patients may benefit from add-on therapy with NUCALA

DO YOUR SEVERE ASTHMA PATIENTS MEET THESE CRITERIA?

Red inhaler

High-dose ICS or medium- to high-dose ICS* plus additional controller used to treat their asthma

Lung icon representing exacerbation reduction data for NUCALA (mepolizumab)

2+ exacerbations in the previous 12 months and/or they require daily OCS

Red blood eosinophils in white

Blood EOS count ≥150 cells/μL

Patients with these signs may need add-on treatment for severe eosinophilic asthma.

*For ages 6-17 years, medium- to high-dose ICS defined as >200 µg/day fluticasone propionate dry powder inhaler or equivalent daily.1-3

Defined as worsening of asthma requiring: systemic corticosteroids or hospitalization or ED visit; or at least double the existing maintenance systemic corticosteroid dose for ≥3 days.

Blood EOS of ≥150 cells/μL at baseline, or ≥300 cells/µL in prior year, was an inclusion requirement for patients enrolled in NUCALA SEA trials.

ED=emergency department; EOS=eosinophils; ICS=inhaled corticosteroid; OCS=oral corticosteroid.

BLOOD EOSINOPHIL UNIT CONVERSION CALCULATOR

In asthma, an elevated EOS count is a sign that your patient may have eosinophilic asthma. Obtain an absolute eosinophil count in cells/µL from lab results to help decide if NUCALA is right for your patient.
